Happy Holidays
West Ridge School appreciates the kindness and gratitude that your families have shown the students, staff, and community this year. He had many kind donations of toys to Toy Mountain, and raised almost $400 to support Fear is Not Love. Together, this allowed us to support many families during this holiday season. On behalf of all of the families whose holidays were made a little brighter, thank you for your generosity!
We respect and value the uniqueness of each member of our community and are glad that we have opportunities to celebrate who we are and where we have come from. We know that the break will look different for every family. Whether you are staying close or travelling far, keeping warm inside or heading out for winter adventures, the staff of West Ridge School wishes you and your family the very best during the holiday season!
We would like to wish everyone joy as they celebrate Christmas, Winter Solstice, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Las Posadas, New Years, or another tradition. May 2025 bring your family happiness and good health.
Raptors Athletics & PE
Volleyball season will be starting the week of January 5, 2026, which is the first week back after the winter break. We are happy to report that we will have four teams competing again this year. The tryout schedule is as follows. Please consult the Athletics website for the most current information.

- January 5: Sr. Girls @ 3:20pm
- January 6: Sr. Boys @ 7:30am and Sr. Girls @ 3:20pm
- January 7: Sr. Girls (invite only) @ 7:30am and Sr. Boys @ 3:20pm
- January 8: Jr. Girls @ 7:30am and Sr. Boys (invite only) @ 3:20pm
- January 9: Jr. Girls @ 7:30am
- January 12: Jr. Boys @ 7:30am and Jr. Girls (invite only) @ 3:20pm
- January 13: Jr. Boys @ 7:30am

From the PE Department:
If you haven’t already done so, please complete the Human Sexuality forms for this school year. There’s a new process, where parents/families are required to “opt-in” to the Human Sexuality health unit, as opposed to only “opting-out” in previous years. Digital copies of the forms for all grades were sent home over the past few weeks. All forms are due by January 17, 2026.
Information packages for the upcoming ski trips (Grades 5-8) have been sent home with students over the past several weeks. The packages for the Grade 9s will be sent home with students the first week back after the break. The deadline to have forms returned has passed for the Grade 6 and 7 trips, while the deadline for the Grade 5s is January 9, 2026 and the Grade 8s is January 16, 2026. Late forms will not be accepted. All trips are operating on a first come, first serve basis and the Grade 5 and 8 trips are very close to being full already. The dates for the trips are as follows:
- Jan. 22 - Grade 7s at Nakiska
- Jan. 29 - Grade 6s at Nakiska
- Feb. 9 - Grade 8s at Norquay
- Feb. 11 - Grade 9s at Lake Louise
- Feb. 18 - Grade 5s at WinSport
Outdoor Education
This is a reminder for any students who are currently in Outdoor Education. We have three cross-country skiing/snowshoeing field trips happening in January (the 12th, 20th, and 27th). The forms are due on January 6 and can be returned to Mr. Lowe or Mr. Dixon. Please note that we require a minimum of 35 students per trip to make them viable and we are still short of that number for each date. If your child is planning on going please ensure their signed Acknowledgement of Risk forms are returned as soon as possible.
