School Doors Open at 8:15 AM 

Please be aware that the school doors open at 8:15 AM. Students who arrive early will need to wait outside. We do not have staff at school to supervise children before this time so please try and arrange drop off times accordingly.

Visitors and Volunteers 

For the safety of our children, West Ridge School is a closed campus during the school day. Any visitors or volunteers must check in at the main office and wear a visitor / volunteer lanyard during their time in the school.

School Resource Officer

Our School Resource Officer is a police officer who has been assigned to our school. This officer supports our school administrators, and when possible, works in a proactive way educating students about the law.

​Lockdowns

All CBE schools are required to practice lockdowns in the same way that we practice fire drills. The procedures for lockdowns are developed with the Calgary Police Service and are part of each school’s Emergency Response Plan. If you have questions about lockdown drills or lockdown procedures, please contact your principal.

Evacuation Procedures

In the event that the school needs to be evacuated for any reason, all staff have been trained according to CBE standards. All schools have a primary and a secondary evacuation site. In the event of an evacuation, you will receive an email, phone or SMS notification from the school.

Video Surveillance Technology

The Calgary Board of Education may install and use video surveillance technology where it enhances safety of students, staff, or others, or deters damage to CBE property or assets; where circumstances have shown that it is necessary for these purposes, and its benefits outweigh the impact on the privacy of those affected. Privacy law, specifically, the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) and the Access to Information Act (ATIA) requires that CBE demonstrate that the proposed installation and use of video surveillance technology (VST) is necessary to resolve pressing and substantial business interests (based on evidence of verifiable and identifiable issues). VST is considered a complement to, and not a replacement for, CBE's strategies in supporting a welcoming, caring, safe, and respectful learning and work environment for students and staff. Approval, installation and use of video surveillance technology will comply with Administrative Regulation 1066​.
