Finishing the Year Strong
We are now entering the final few weeks of the school year. While this time of year can feel busy and exciting, it is important to remember that every day continues to be a full day of learning right through to the end, June 26.
This is also true during Grade 6 and Grade 9 PAT days. While exams are an important part of the day, regular classes resume immediately afterward, and meaningful learning continues for all students.
If your child is unable to attend for the full day during these final weeks, we kindly ask that you inform West Ridge School by email or phone before 10:00 a.m. This allows us to process absences more efficiently, as the recent volume has created a significant administrative workload for Ms. Santo and Mrs. Flanagan.
Alongside classroom learning, we also have a number of field trips, celebrations, and activities planned in these final weeks. These are intentionally organized to support students’ learning, help them connect with one another, and provide a positive close to the school year.
We recognize that this is a busy time for families; however, we ask for your continued support in ensuring that students are at school, on time, and engaged for the full day. These last few weeks are important, and each day provides valuable opportunities for students to learn, participate, and be part of our school community.
Grade 7, 8, & 9 Band Concert
We are excited to showcase the work of our Grade 7, 8, and Grade 9 band students on Wednesday, June 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the school gym. This evening is an opportunity for students to share what they have been working on throughout the year and to celebrate their growth and commitment.
Under the direction of Mr. Hoag, students have been preparing a variety of pieces, and we look forward to an enjoyable evening for families and community members. Mr. Hoag has shared, or will be sharing, additional details directly with students and families.
We hope you can join us in supporting our musicians and celebrating their accomplishments.
Published Author
Congratulations to Quinn Sun, one of West Ridge School’s very own Grade 8 students, on an outstanding achievement! Quinn recently had her writing published in a national anthology. Her short story, Sol et Lua, appears in Aloft, a collection featuring work from Grade 7 and 8 students across Canada. This is a tremendous accomplishment. Well done, Quinn!
Grade 9 Farewell
We are looking forward to celebrating our Grade 9 students on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, and wanted to provide a brief update as we head into the final stages of preparation.
The cost was set at $81, after a bit of fundraising and a donation from the Raptor Shack. Also, field trip forms were sent home, with the majority already returned. We have also had a great response with baby photos, and a group of students is currently working on putting together a special piece for the evening.
Plans are coming together well, with decorations and final details now being finalized. I would also like to recognize the Grade 9 Farewell Student Committee, who have put in a significant amount of time and effort to help make this a memorable event for their peers.
As a reminder, the farewell ceremony at the school begins at 4:30 p.m., with students arriving around 4:00 p.m. to prepare. Due to the size of the Grade 9 cohort and limited space in the gym, we ask that no more than two family members attend per student so that we are able to accommodate everyone comfortably.
We appreciate your continued support and look forward to celebrating this important milestone with our students.
