YYC Food Bank - WRS Cereal Box Challenge
We have been challenged by Griffith Woods School to raise funds and collect cereal boxes for the Calgary Food Bank. They claim that they have already raised over 1500 boxes of cereal but I know we can do better.
Each cereal box donation brought down to Room 1102 will give students a one entry ticket to the raffle for a gift card. The more boxes, the more chances to win! Make your donations throughout the week and listen to the Friday morning announcements to see if you won!
You can also make a donation to our fundraising page online too!

West Ridge Wellness Day
Parent Volunteers Needed (Fri, May 29)
We are looking for parent volunteers to support our Rise of the Raptor (Wellness Day).
Students in Grades 5-9 will attend 3 different wellness sessions throughout the day.
We are seeking parents who can:
- Lead a session (with staff support)
- Help support a session (led by a teacher)
Information:
- Sessions run 3 times with different groups of students (with 15 minutes between sessions)
- Sessions typically host 20-25 students
- Volunteers would need to be available 8:30am to 1:00pm on Friday, May 29th
- If leading a session, all materials will be provided by the school
- Some session ideas include: crafts, career demonstrations, or wellness activities
- Interested in helping? Please contact Lyndsay Servos (laservos@cbe.ab.ca)
Returning to West Ridge?
As we ramp up the planning for the 2026-27 school year we would like to gather accurate data about the number of students who will be attending West Ridge School next year as this can have an impact on staffing, class configuration, and the complimentary courses that we can offer.
If you have a child(ren) in Grade 5, 6, 7, or 8 that will not be returning to West Ridge School for the upcoming school year, please email Mr. Lang (jplang@cbe.ab.ca) or West Ridge School (westridge@cbe.ab.ca) so that we are aware. If your child is in Grade 9 there is no need to email us as we know that they will not be returning next year.
Also, if you know of someone who may be coming to West Ridge School next year, who is not currently attending West Springs School we would appreciate if you could let us know that too.
Thank you for your help!
Raptor Shack - Cash Only

School Council Update
Volunteers Needed for 2026-2027 School Year!

o Fundraiser Coordinator: assists with brainstorming ideas, coordination of and administering fundraising initiatives. 1-2 hours per month

School Council
School Council collaborates with the administration to ensure the parent perspective is reflected in school decision-making and facilitates the communication of school information to the parent community.
o Vice-Chair: supports the Chair with duties and hosts meetings if the Chair is not available. 3-4 hours per month
o Secretary: Responsible for taking notes at School Council meetings. 1-2 hours per meeting
o Members at Large: asked to attend 3 - 4 meetings throughout the year, providing an opportunity to contribute to the decisions, gather & share ideas from the parent community, and take on small roles within the council if desired.
