Labour Action

Thank you for your ongoing support of public education.

During the time of labour action, West Ridge School will be closed. Teachers will not have access to any of their CBE accounts and therefore will not be able to update D2L or Google Classroom, enter assessments into PowerSchool, work on IPPs or respond to emails. We will also be unable to provide any material for students to continue their learning during the labour action.

We appreciate your understanding in this matter and recommend you visit the CBE Labour Action page for more information and updates. The page also contains information regarding the Learning Toolkit that Alberta Education and Childcare has prepared to support student learning during this time. Walk for Wenjack

On Friday, October 2, all students and staff at West Ridge School participated in the Walk for Wenjack, an event that honours Chanie Wenjack and the thousands of children who never made it home from residential schools across Canada.

The Walk for Wenjack, first held in 2016, provides Canadians with an opportunity to take part in reconciliation in a meaningful and personal way. The very first walk retraced Chanie’s final journey—from Cecilia Jeffrey Indian Residential School in Kenora, ON, through Redditt, ON, and ending with a ceremony at his resting place near Farlane, ON.

Inspired by Chanie’s story and Gord Downie’s call to action, the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund (DWF) works to foster cultural understanding and create a path toward reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada.

West Ridge School walked together today to improve the lives of Indigenous peoples by building awareness, advancing education, and strengthening connections among all peoples in Canada.

School Council Update

Sport Court Upgrades - HUGE Thank You to WSCRCA!

With the support of West Springs Cougar Ridge Community Association (WSCRCA) as well as Society and the CBE, WRS was able to complete much needed maintenance of the Sport Court this summer. The courts are used daily for gym and are very busy after school with the community. Some minor work will continue over the fall.

WRS Council and Society are grateful for the WSCRCA continued support and partnership.
