Musical News

We are pleased to announce that the Theatre program here at West Ridge is now on Instagram!  You can find us using our handle @wrstheatre.   Please consider adding us! We will be posting photos, updates and more.

Grade 6 Artist in Residence – “Project 5, Communicate with Confidence!”

This year we have Carmen Leibel and her “Project 5, Communicate with Confidence!” program joining us in March to work with our grade 6 students, March 4th-8th.  She will be working with all classes exploring the Project Five 5P's: Prepare, Practice, Pace, Position, Present where students will be “putting down their devices and learning to communicate with confidence”!  For more information click here.

PE Weekly Update

Volleyball 

A huge shout out to our Jr. & Sr. Boys teams who were undefeated in their games last evening. All the best to our Jr. & Sr. Girls who play this evening!! Spectators are welcome to come out and support our Jr. Girls who are hosting games tonight here at West Ridge.

All 4 teams will be in action throughout the weekend as they participate in the Marshall Springs Invitational Tournament. Our Boys teams play this evening in the round robin while our Girls teams play tomorrow. Teams advancing to the next stage will play on Saturday. All athletes have been provided their schedules.

The Sr. Boys will be playing Friday at Ernest Manning for the annual Feeder Tournament.

Ski Trips

Many thanks to all of our parent volunteers and teachers who supported & participated in our annual Ski/Snowboard trips over the past few weeks!! Your efforts are much appreciated by our school community! From grades 7-9 approximately 210 students had the opportunity to visit the various ski hills and had an exceptional time! 

If you have not yet done so, please complete the payments posted to your CBE accounts by March 1, 2024.

Child and Youth Well-Being: A Webinar Series for Parents and Guardians 

Metal Health & Anxiety (Grade 7-12) – March 14th at 6:30-8:00pm

Learn evidence-based strategies to support youth in Grades 7 to 12 in managing stress and anxiety. Join our AHS partners from the mental health literacy team and clarify terms and present evidence-based strategies to support youth in managing stress and anxious feelings. Learn when clinical assessment is needed and what treatment may involve. Gain information and strategies to boost your own mental health and support the young people in your life.  Meeting Link HERE.

Join us to get some insight on public speaking with Project Five, Communicate with Confidence. They will be working with our grade 6s this year, so we will also get a glimpse of what they are learning in school as well. www.projectfive.ca
