Dear Families,

What a week it has been, with many busy exciting weeks ahead as we sprint to the finish of the school year!

A huge shout out to the cast and crew of this year’s musical, “Finding Nemo.”  Last week, the two casts staged a total of 6 outstanding shows. The acting, singing, set design, and technical aspects of the show were absolutely amazing. It was most heart-warming to watch such a strong sense of community develop over the last 7 months amongst all of those involved in giving life to this brilliant production. A special thank you goes to the show’s producer/director, Ms. Kerrie Lutz!

Wishing our Grade 9 students the absolute best luck as they write Part A of their English Language Arts Provincial Achievement Test on Monday!

We are looking very forward to spending tomorrow with approximately 40 students between grades 5 through 9 in our first ever West Ridge Students Leadership Summit. This occasion will provide a valuable opportunity for ensuring that student voice is reflected in helping shape the structures, processes, and culture of our school community next year.

At this time of year, a big part of the work involves the complementary learning program offered to students. This past week you have received information about our complementary learning program. We ask that you please review that information carefully in helping guide your children along their choice of elective classes next year.  Please feel free to contact us should you have any questions.

Finally, I would like to share that I am pleased to report that I will be joining the West Ridge community next year again as Principal, to further continue building upon this year’s work. As always, should you have any questions, please email me directly at kjconnelly@cbe.ab.ca  or feel free to give me a call directly.

Thank you, families, for your continual support of our school community!

Kel Connelly and Marla Paxton

Complementary Course Request

Current Grade  6, 7 and 8 students have the opportunity to request complementary courses (options) through Powerschool for next year.  Please open your MyCBE account and support your child in their selections.  The deadline to request is Wednesday May 15th.  It’s important to know that while we do what we can to honour these requests that there are no guarantees as classes could possibly not have a teacher to teach it or enough students to make the class viable.  Also students might be placed in courses they have not selected to fill their schedule. Students need to select a total of 10 courses and click SUBMIT.
