Remembrance Day
West Ridge School will be recognizing Remembrance Day on Tuesday, November 10. As part of our commemoration, we will be holding a school-wide assembly and would like to extend our sincere thanks to all the families who contributed stories, photographs, and artifacts honouring members of the Canadian Armed Forces.
We are grateful for the opportunity to share these meaningful contributions with our students through the display in the front foyer and main hallway, which will remain in place until after Fall Break.
We would also like to acknowledge and thank the students who are helping make our ceremony meaningful by participating in uniform, reciting poetry, and sharing reflective artwork. Their involvement helps us honour the service, sacrifice, and legacy of those who have served our country.

Jacket Racket and Food Bank Drive
We would like to thank our West Ridge families, students, and staff for the donations already received in support of Jacket Racket and the Calgary Food Bank. However, there is still a significant need for additional donations to support students who may not have adequate winter clothing and families facing food insecurity.
We will continue collecting new or gently used winter clothing for Jacket Racket on Monday, November 9, Tuesday, November 10, and the morning of Monday, November 16. We are looking for coats, snow pants, hats, and mitts/gloves. Donated items should be clean, in good condition, and have working zippers.
We are also collecting donations for the Calgary Food Bank, with high-demand items including canned vegetables and fruit, pasta sauce, soup, peanut butter, canned beans, rice, pasta, cereal, granola bars, diapers, and powdered baby formula.
West Ridge School’s commitment to helping others is a wonderful example of leadership in action.
Thank you for supporting this important initiative and helping ensure that more children and families in our community have warm clothing and food this winter. Your generosity is helping make a difference in our community.
Raptor Wresting
The West Ridge Raptors’ Wrestling Team had an outstanding performance at the Wolverine Classic Wrestling Tournament this past Thursday and Friday, bringing home an impressive 9 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze medals.
Our wrestlers represented West Ridge with determination, resilience, and sportsmanship, and their hard work paid off with an incredible showing on the mat. A special congratulations goes to Paige D., our lone female competitor, who captured a gold medal in dominant fashion.
We are incredibly proud of all our wrestlers for their effort, commitment, and the way they represented our school throughout the tournament.
A big thank you goes to our teacher sponsors, Mr. Moulton and Mrs. Cote, for their ongoing support of the program. We would also like to recognize our outstanding coaches, Amro Mhareb and Mohammed Ramzo from the University of Calgary, whose expertise, encouragement, and dedication have helped our wrestlers already achieve success.
Congratulations to all of our Raptors wrestlers on an amazing first tournament of the season.
Night of Music
The Grade 9 West Ridge Band performed at a Night of Music hosted by Ernest Manning High School on October 28. They played alongside other middle schools in the area to celebrate our community of young musicians, as well as enjoying Ernest Manning's musical performance. What a wonderful opportunity for West Ridge students. Thank you Ms. Rempel for
