WRS Spirit Week

Thank you to WRS Leadership 9 students for planning a fun week of dressing up before we head into November!

  • Monday, Oct 26 - PJ Day
  • Tuesday, Oct 27 - Twin Day
  • Wednesday, Oct 28 - Wacky Denim Day
  • Thursday, Oct 29 - Jersey Day
  • Friday, Oct 30 - Halloween Day

The focus of Halloween Day will remain on learning but there will be a school-wide activity planned.

Costumes

  • Students are welcome to wear costumes if they wish, but this is entirely optional.
  • Costumes must be appropriate for a school setting: faces must remain visible (no masks), and weapons, even toy or plastic ones, are not permitted.
  • Inflatable costumes can be difficult in crowded classrooms and hallways and they make it difficult to sit down. Students may be asked to deflate them during learning or transition times.
  • Costumes deemed inappropriate or accessories that are disruptive may be removed or held for the day.
  • Please refrain from sending treats with your child, as they will have the opportunity to enjoy Halloween festivities in the evening

Raptor Jacket Racket & Food Bank Drive

As we head into the colder months and the holiday season, West Ridge School will be collecting donations to support families in our community.

Over the next few weeks, we will be gathering new or gently used winter clothing for Jacket Racket, including coats, snow pants, hats, and mitts/gloves. If donating used items, please ensure they are clean, free of holes, and that all zippers are in good working order. Jacket Racket has been helping Calgary students stay warm since the 1980s, providing winter clothing to children and youth from Kindergarten through Grade 12.

We will also be collecting donations for the Calgary Food Bank. Some of their most-needed items include canned vegetables and fruit, pasta sauce, soup, peanut butter, canned beans, rice, pasta, cereal, granola bars, diapers, and powdered baby formula.

We know that not every family is in a position to give, but if you are able to contribute, even a small donation can make a big difference. Whether it is a warm winter jacket, a pair of mitts, or a few food items, your generosity helps support Calgary families who may be facing challenges this season.

Thank you for helping us demonstrate what it means to be a caring community. Together, we can help ensure that more families have warm clothing, food on the table, and a little extra support during the holidays.

A special thank you goes to our Grade 8 Leadership students for organizing this year's campaign. Their commitment to helping others and finding ways to give back to the community is something we are proud of and is a great example of student leadership in action.
