Dear Parents/Guardians,
Here are our updates for the upcoming week:
Report Card Info
A reminder that students and parents will be able to access Term 1 report cards beginning Monday, January 27 by logging into your MYCBE parent account www.cbe.ab.ca/mycbe – Under the left hand menu, please go to “Navigation” and click on: Report Card/Student Info. Please save a copy of this document if you need it, or you could also print a copy for your records.
As with last year, report cards will continue to be constructed from a strength based manner – identifying areas of strength and area for growth, as they apply to particular curricular stems.
Our second round of Parent/Teacher/ Student Conferences are scheduled for March 20 and March 21. More detailed information about when and how to book conferences will be forthcoming closer to that time. Parents/guardians are reminded though, that you can continue to monitor your child’s progress beyond the report card by regularly checking PowerSchool or though contacting your child’s teacher via email or by phone should you have any concerns.
Should you have any questions regarding report cards please don’t hesitate to contact Mr. Connelly or Ms. Gourdeau.
Athletics
Physical Education
All Physical Education classes will be starting Module 3 on Monday. As with Module 2 there will be a mix of indoor and outdoor activities. Proper athletic footwear is required for any indoor unit, while dressing for the weather is important during our outdoor rotations. The following teachers are scheduled to be outside starting next week, so if your child is in their PE class please ensure they have proper clothing and footwear for the weather conditions: Ms. Armstrong, Mr. Stratton, Ms. Gordon, Mr. Lowe, Mr. Mansell, Ms. McKenzie, Mr. Balogh, Ms. Frei, Ms. Gallagher, and Ms. Gosselin.
Wrestling
Our wrestling team competed in the Constrictor Class at Tom Baines last week. We had 10 wrestlers finish in first place. Congratulations to all of those student athletes who were in attendance. Next up is the year-end divisional tournament on January 28 at the Genesis Centre. Best of luck to everyone competing in the final event of the season!
Volleyball
All four of our volleyball teams tipped off their seasons this week. The Jr. and Sr. Boys both played games on Wednesday afternoon. The Sr. Boys lost their first game against William D. Pratt (WDP) but then bounced back with a win against Griffith Woods (GW). Our Jr. Boys split sets in both of their games, also against WDP and GW. Our Jr. and Sr. Girls opened their season on Thursday with away games. The Sr. Girls lost their game to WDP but followed it up with a win against GW. The Jr. Girls opened with a win against GW and then split sets with WDP. All of our teams are back in action next week with our Sr. Girls hosting games in the Raptor Den on January 30. Come out and support our ladies at 4:30pm. The full volleyball schedule is available on our Athletics website.
Ski Trips
The first Grade 7 ski trip is happening next week on January 30. The fees for the Grade 8 and 9 ski trips have now been posted in your MyCBE accounts, so please take a moment to pay them as soon as you can. The fees for the Grade 5 and 6 trips will be posted soon. The deadline to get your completed forms for the Grade 5 ski trip is January 28.
