2025-26 Homeroom Placement

As we begin planning for the upcoming school year, we would like to share some important information about how class lists are created.

Class placement is a thoughtful and ongoing process that involves collaboration among our teaching staff and administration.

Our teachers use their in-depth knowledge of students’ academic, social, and emotional needs to build well-balanced classes that support the success of all learners. Many factors are considered, including:

  • Learning styles
  • Individual strengths
  • Peer dynamics
  • Overall class composition

Because of the complexity and care involved in this process, we are unable to accommodate specific requests for teachers, classmates, or classroom placements. We appreciate your understanding and trust in our professional judgment.

Class lists will be finalized over the summer, and you will find out your child’s placement when school begins in the fall.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

Athletics

Night of the Raptors

Night of the Raptors is happening next week on June 5. We have posted a list outside the PE office that depicts all of our 3-star, 4-star, 5-star, and 6-star athletes. The stars represent the number of athletic teams a student competed on this past year. Please have your child check that list to ensure the information is correct as we will use that list for our award presentations. The evening starts at 5:30pm and should wrap-up by 8:00pm. Students are asked to wear semi-formal clothing, something that is dressier than their normal day-to-day school attire. Please be on time as our guest speaker from the Calgary Surge will be taking the floor after opening remarks. Thank you to everyone that purchased a ticket to this year’s event. The fees have now been posted in your MyCBE accounts, so please take a moment to pay them if you haven’t already done so. We are really looking forward to a fun-filled evening of celebration!

High School Fall Sports

A representative from Ernest Manning High School will be at West Ridge for a presentation about high school sports. This presentation will be happening on June 5 in the Main Gym from 12:00-12:30pm. If you are interested in trying out for an athletic team at EMHS this fall, you should be in attendance for this brief presentation. Bring your lunch!

Track & Field

We have been busy finalizing our Track & Field roster. Thank you to all those student athletes who have already returned their Acknowledgement of Risk forms. If you haven’t already done so, please return your signed forms to the PE office by Monday, June 2 to secure your spot on the team. Our inter-school Track Meet is happening on June 10 at Foothills Athletic Park. Students who are on the team will need to find their own transportation to and from the event. Students need to check-in with a teacher at 8:45am and events will be starting at 9:00am sharp. Track fees should be posted in your MyCBE account by the end of this week or early next week.

Bowness Football

If there are any Grade 9 students who are interested in playing football at Bowness High School this fall they are welcome to come and watch their spring camp. Camp is happening from June 16-19 from 4:00-6:00pm. June 20 is their Green N Gold Game. They will also be having a BBQ for anyone in attendance. That game runs from 4:00-5:30pm. If you are interested in playing football or just want to learn more, spring camp is an excellent opportunity to learn what it’s all about!

Raptor Shack

The Raptor Shack will be closed for the rest of the school year.  Please make sure your students have sufficient food for their needs. Thank you for supporting the Raptor Shack this year!
