Here are some updates for the coming week:
Parent-Teacher Meetings are coming up and will be open for booking on Friday, March 7. An email will go home next week with more details.
We are offering three opportunities to meet with teachers, to accommodate more families:
- Friday, March 14 1 pm-3.30 pm (online)
- Thursday, March 20 4 pm-8 pm (online)
- Friday, March 21 8 am-1 pm (online) – this is a PD Day
Athletics
All four of our volleyball teams played very well at the Springs Smash Tournament last week. Both of our girls’ teams finished in first place, while both of our boys’ teams finished in second. Congratulations to everyone who participated! All of our teams also resumed league play this week. The Sr. Boys beat A.E. Cross (AEC) but lost a close game to William D. Pratt (WDP). Our Jr. Boys split their game with AEC and lost to WDP. Our Jr. Girls won both of their games last night, while our Sr. Girls beat AEC and split sets with WDP. That concludes the regular season as all of our teams are on a bye next week. The playoffs start on March 12, so stay tuned for updates about that. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Rally on the Ridge Senior Tournament that was scheduled to be held here at West Ridge next week has been cancelled. Our second last Grade 5 Developmental Volleyball session is happening on Friday, March 7 from 7:30-8:15am.
Our final ski trip of the year took place yesterday when our Grade 6s visited Nakiska. We had spring-like conditions for the 88 students in attendance and things ended on a high note for everyone. We had over 400 students attend six different trips at four different resorts, making it one of the most successful ski trips seasons ever at West Ridge School. Big thanks to all of the teachers and parent volunteers who made these trips possible!

Please call 403-817-3552 and dial 1 if your child will be absent. Please leave a brief message including only the student’s last name, first name and reason for their absence.
Alternatively, please email us at westridge@cbe.ab.ca to report the absence.
Please select only one method of contact (voicemail OR email).
If you need to pick your child(ren) up during the school day, please allow enough time for the office to find them. Sometimes they will be out of the building or in Phys Ed, which takes more time for us to reach them. Sometimes we have many different pick-ups happening at the same time, and that also will take us more time to find your child.
It is most helpful if you email the office in advance at westridge@cbe.ab.ca and copy the homeroom teacher.
Grade 9 Fundraiser - Do you have a Sweet Tooth?
Over the past five years, our Grade 9 students have made incredible and lasting contributions to the Raptor family. We would like to send them off in a way that acknowledges the lasting legacy they have left at West Ridge. With that in mind, we need our community’s help in raising funds for this celebration. To support this, we have organized a Purdy’s chocolate fundraiser—helping both the celebration and, perhaps, satisfying that sweet tooth of yours! Use the link below to place your order.

West Ridge Parent Council/Society
Parent Engagement Survey will be sent out in March. This is a key opportunity for parents to provide direct feedback that is taken very seriously into consideration when it comes to school planning and how best to support our kids. Your insight is needed! Please watch for the email in mid-March.
