Dear Parents/Guardians,

Here are some updates for the coming week:

2025-26 Complementary Course Selection

All next year grade 7, 8 and 9 families will receive an email next week with instructions about how to select your complementary courses for next year. This is all done online and there will be step by step instructions.

Athletics

Doug Brown, Director of Sport Performance and Co-Owner of Zeal Performance, will be giving a brief presentation at lunch time (starting at 12:00pm) on May 12 in the Main Gym. This presentation is aimed at any Grade 8 and 9 students who are interested in improving their athletic performance through dedicated strength and conditioning, speed camps, and cardio-based skills. This will be especially beneficial for those students hoping to try out for athletic teams at the high school level. Bring your lunch and come listen to this engaging presentation.

Badminton

Badminton divisional tournaments are starting next week. Both of our Grade 7 and 8 teams are playing on the following dates at the specified locations. Best of luck to our teams as they wrap-up their seasons.

  • May 6 - Grade 8: Singles & Mixed Doubles at Twelve Mile Coulee
  • May 7 - Grade 7: Singles & Mixed Doubles at West Ridge
  • May 8 - Grade 7: Doubles at West Ridge
    - Grade 8: Doubles at Twelve Mile Coulee

The final Grade 5 Developmental Badminton session is also happening next week. It’ll be on Friday, May 9 starting at 7:30pm. We hope to see you there!

Night of the Raptors

A BIG thank you to the parents/families/businesses who have already donated items for our upcoming Night of the Raptors celebration. If you are unfamiliar with this event, Night of the Raptors is a celebration of all things athletics and is open to any student, coach, or volunteer that was part of an inr-school team throughout the school year. Additional information will be forthcoming about this evening in the weeks to come. If you are willing to donate door prizes for this exciting event, please get in touch with Mr. Dixon via email (tcdixon@cbe.ab.ca).

Track Day

Our school-wide Track Day is scheduled for May 15. We are looking for about 15-20 broken hockey sticks that we can repurpose as stakes to partition our athletic field during this event. If you have any broken sticks or other similar items that you could donate, we would gladly accept them. Items can be brought to the school and dropped-off in the PE office.

Grade 9 Camping Trip

Paperwork for the upcoming Outdoor Education Grade 9 camping trip was distributed the past two days. The deadline to have your signed forms returned to Mr. Dixon in the PE office is Friday, May 9. Late forms will not be accepted. If your child was away but is still interested in this field trip, additional forms can be collected from the PE office next week. As a reminder, we do need 40 students to make this trip viable. If we do not reach that number the trip will be cancelled. Conversely, if we have more than 40 we will operate on a lottery system.
