WRS The Week Ahead: December 4th-7th
Dear Families,
This week has flown by and as we move towards the weekend we wanted to send a quick reminder that December 8th is a PD day for teachers so there is no school for students.
We have some great things happening next week so please take a look at the updates below!
Have a great weekend,
Mr. Connelly & Ms. Paxton
Updates this coming week for families are:
Student Leadership Update - Winter Dance
We wanted to share what our Leadership students have been up to this week so Anna L. popped in to deliver this message!
“On Thursday December 14th we will be holding a Winter Wonderland themed dance! Doors will open at 6pm and the dance will end at 8pm. Entry will cost $2 or students may donate a non-perishable food item for the Veterans Food Bank instead.
The Raptor Shack will have snacks and drinks that students may purchase with cash. Candy cane cane-grams will also be available to purchase with cash! There will be a photo booth where students can have their picture taken, and our own Mr. Braynen will be our DJ for the night! Leadership students will also be collecting Toy Mountain donations along with Veterans Food Bank donations that students can bring in.”
PE Weekly Update
With their win in the Divisional Championship game last week, Sr. Boys Basketball Team earned a berth to the Tournament of Champions. They played in the quarter finals last night against McKenzie Highlands where they won a close defensive game. They are playing Sherwood in the semi-finals tonight with a chance to compete in the city championship on the line. Best of luck to the boys tonight.
The Maverick Melee Wrestling Tournament is happening today and tomorrow at William D. Pratt School. Best of luck to all of our wrestlers who are competing in this tournament. We know you will represent your school with dedication, sportsmanship, and a competitive spirit.
Just a reminder that the Grade 6 ski/snowboard trip and the hiking trip are all happening on December 7. The ski/snowboard trip will be at WinSport Canada Olympic Park while the hiking trip is headed to Fish Creek Provincial Park. It’s shaping up to be a fantastic day all around.
Lost and Found
Thank you to all of you who have taken a look through the lost and found tables during our parent-teacher conferences. We will be leaving the lost and found items out on tables just outside the front office for another week and then unclaimed items will be bagged up and donated. Please remind your child that if they are missing anything to come take a look!
Child and Youth Well-Being: A Webinar Series for Parents and Guardians
Teen brains are amazing, but working with brains under construction comes with challenges. How do you nurture and appreciate this time? Adolescence is known across cultures as a tough time for both teens and adults who support them. Adults and teens can work together to form a deeper understanding of what is happening in the brain creating a deeper understanding of one another. Come learn with us on January 18, 2024 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM – Meeting Link
