Dear Families,

Mr. Hoag would like to send out congratulations to the Grade 7 Concert Band on their musical performance at Ernest Manning High School last Friday. The musicians proudly represented West Ridge School. Their hard work and musical artistry resulted in a harmonious and cohesive performance.

A huge thank you to those who were able to join us yesterday for our Remembrance Day Assembly, and those who were involved in the planning this year.  It a beautiful ceremony that gave us time to pause for reflection and remembrance. 

A quick reminder that Fall Break is Nov 9^th-14^th so we will see you on Wednesday, November 15^th!

Child and Youth Well-Being: A Webinar Series for Parents and Guardians 

Well-being is a precondition for learning. As our understanding of student well-being continues to evolve, it is important for those that support children and youth to stay up to date on the same information so everyone can support student success.  

The Calgary Board of Education invites all parents and guardians to join us in an online series focusing on child and youth well-being. These sessions will be hosted in partnership with experts from Alberta Health Services and will explore topics such as vaping, brain development, mental health, and sexual health.

This next session is November 16^th 6:30-8:00pm, and focuses on Understanding Vaping: Across Canada, e-cigarette use, also known as vaping, is reaching new heights amongst teenagers. This presentation will focus on common devices used for vaping, substances vaped such as nicotine and cannabis, and the health risks associated with vaping. We will present on how to engage in challenging conversations with your young person regarding vaping.

Teacher Conference Dinner

Bottle Drive

Save your bottles!  Our first bottle drive of the year will be on Thursday, November 30th.  Just drop your bags of bottles at the front of the school - it’s that easy!  This year, all funds raised from the bottle drives will be donated to grade 9 grad.  (Share the love though - the drama department is looking for 500ml and 1L plastic bottles for their set design)
