WRS The Week Ahead: October 23-27th
Dear Families,
We have had a busy week this past week with many off-site activities taking place, our soccer teams finishing up, basketball games and practices well underway so a bit thank you to our school community for helping support these activities.
Mr. Lowe’s leadership classes will be looking to support the Jacket Racket and are asking for donations of lightly used winter clothing, including jackets, snow pants, mitts and toques to support our local community. If you are interested in donating items to this cause, please reach out to Mr. Lowe at tjlowe@cbe.ab.ca
A quick reminder that Friday is a PD day so there is no school for students.

Child and Youth Well-Being: A Webinar Series for Parents and Guardians
CBE educators believe that parents and guardians can inspire their kids to make healthy lifestyle choices and increase protective factors – in order to do so, they need the right tools and information. Well-being is a precondition for learning. As our understanding of student well-being continues to evolve, it is important for those that support children and youth to stay up to date on the same information so everyone can support student success.
The intention of the series is to advance student well-being by raising family and caregiver’s understanding of a variety of health-related topics. If you would like to learn more please click HERE.
Thank you for your time and consideration to join us.
PE Weekly Update
A BIG congratulations to our Boys Soccer Team who captured the division championship in a tight battle with Bishop Pinkham last week. Congratulations on a fantastic season and thank you to Ms. Angel and Ms. Armstrong for your time, dedication, and leadership as coaches.
Our Girls Soccer Team lost a nail-biter in a shootout in the 3rd place game. They finished 4th overall in their division. Congrats on a good season ladies and thank you to Ms. Gallagher and Ms. Wolfson for your time and effort in coaching the girls this season. Just a reminder that soccer uniforms need to be returned to your coaches as soon as possible. Once your uniform has been returned, your deposit cheque will be returned or destroyed.
Both of our senior basketball teams went undefeated at the Manning Feeder Tournament last week. Our boys teams are back in action Oct. 25 with our juniors at Griffith Woods and our seniors at home in the Raptor Den. The girls teams are playing on Oct. 26 with our juniors at West Ridge and our seniors at Bishop Pinkham. Our senior teams are also competing in the North West Classic Basketball Tournament with girls on Oct. 25, boys on Oct. 26, and both on Oct. 27. Best of luck in all your upcoming games. Just a reminder that order forms for basketball hoodies are due by Monday, Oct. 23. If you are interested in purchasing a team hoodie this season, please ensure your form is submitted by then.
Our next Grade 5 Developmental Basketball session will happen on Friday, Oct. 27 from 7:30-8:15am.
Wrestling season is fast approaching. Wrestling is a sport that requires a very specific skill-set to coach. Unfortunately, we do not have anyone on staff that currently has the required skill-set so we are reaching out to our parent community to see if anyone would like to fill that role. Since wrestling is a school-based sport, there would be one or two teacher sponsors attached to the team but would not be supporting in a coaching-specific role. All volunteers, including coaches, are required to have all of their CBE clearances completed and up to date to be considered. If you, or someone you know, is interested in coaching our wrestling team this season please get in contact with Tyler Dixon.
