As we move into the weekend know that the Larch’s are changing and we hope you are able to spend some time enjoying the last few warm days.

here will be a dunk tank here on Friday, October 6th for the Terry Fox run. Students will have the opportunity to purchase throws for our Dunk Tank fundraiser to support the Terry Fox Foundation. It will be one throw for $2.00 or three for $5.00. These will be on sale during lunch every day next week.
There will also be raffle tickets available for sale for students to have the opportunity to shave a teacher's head or wax some teacher's legs! Finally, there will be a hit-them-with-your-best-shot water balloon throw on Thursday at lunch, where students can pay a dollar to throw water balloons at their favorite teachers.
Let's show up and raise a bunch of money for a great cause.
From our Day of Truth and Reconciliation:
Oki/Hello
This week, on September 26th, students and staff participated in whole school activities around Truth and Reconciliation. We watched a video about allyship with Indigenous people, discussed what it means to be an ally on this journey of Truth and Reconciliation and shared our commitments about allyship on orange cutouts that are being fashioned into an orange shirt installation on a bulletin board in one of our main hallways. We also were very fortunate to listen to a book by Indigenous author Christina Fox/iitsisaanoowa called Journey of the Heart/a'poohsin iskitsipahpi. We are grateful that she gave her permission to share it, and students wrote some thoughtful responses to quotes from the book. We will be creating a special thank you to Christina from our school community, and sending it to her very soon.
Thank you to all students for participating so thoughtfully.

PE Weekly Update
Our cross-country team competed in the final meet of the season and had another outstanding performance. Our athletes had multiple top 20 finishes across all age categories. We are waiting on final results from the league and we’ll report those results once we have them.
Our girls soccer team lost a heart-breaker in the final seconds in their second game against Bishop Pinkham on Monday and then came up just short again against Griffith Woods 1-0 on Wednesday. The girls are back in action on October 2 at 4:30pm at A.E. Cross. Good luck ladies!
The boys soccer team finished their game against Pinkham in a 2-2 draw. They’re back in action again tonight at 4:30pm at West Ridge field against Griffith Woods. Their final game of the season is on October 3 at 4:30pm at A.E. Cross. Good luck in your final games gentlemen.
The first Grade 5 developmental basketball session is happening on October 6 from 7:30-8:15am. This session is open to any students in Grade 5 who are interested in learning more about the game of basketball.
Basketball Games
We remind spectators that while at the school watching games, there are no in and out privileges and CBE code of conduct for students still applies. We all wish to enjoy watching our student athletes compete in a respectful and safe environment. We have also come to a decision as a basketball division (Bishop Pinkham, AE Cross, Griffith Woods, Mount Royal, Vincent Massey, and West Ridge Schools) that any student wishing to be a spectator at away games must be accompanied by a parent/guardian for the duration of the game.
