At West Ridge School, we believe that reconciliation is built through listening, learning, relationships, and meaningful action. We are committed to creating a school community where Indigenous histories, cultures, perspectives, and ways of knowing are honoured and respected, and where all students feel a sense of belonging.
As we continue our learning journey together, we acknowledge and support the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada's Calls to Action. We recognize that this work is ongoing and that authentic reconciliation requires us to learn from Indigenous voices, experiences, and perspectives while building stronger relationships within our community.
For the 2026-2027 school year, West Ridge School is committed to learning and working alongside Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers to deepen Indigenous students' connections to language, culture, community, and learning. Through stories, songs, teachings, and ceremonies shared according to local protocols, students will have opportunities to learn from those who carry and share Indigenous knowledge.
We are grateful for the wisdom, experiences, and perspectives that Elders and Knowledge Keepers bring to our school. Their teachings help all of us develop a deeper understanding of Indigenous cultures, strengthen relationships, and continue moving forward together on the path toward reconciliation.
This commitment aligns with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada's Calls to Action 62.1, 62.3, 63.1, and 63.2.
